Guardian on-board sensor enhancements detect passenger weight and classify

Sunday,Jul 21,2019

According to foreign media reports, on July 1, local time, Israeli company Guardian Optical Technologies announced that its "one-piece" cockpit sensor technology has added a new feature to help protect front passengers from airbags. The company is committed to creating "passenger-aware" cars.

The sensor now determines and classifies the driver's and front passenger's weight, and then the car automatically adjusts the airbag deployment during the collision. In addition, the system can determine the distance between the chest and head of the front passenger and the steering wheel/dashboard. In addition, by fastening the seat belt, it is possible to prevent the driver or the passenger from being physically injured due to too close or direct contact with the airbag when the airbag is just deployed.

Guardian's sensor technology identifies the position and physical size of everyone in the car, distinguishing people from objects. By detecting small vibrations, the system can detect the presence of objects or people in most cases, even if it is not within the line of sight. Through motion analysis and 2D/3D content input, real-time, integrated “big data” can be acquired and then combined with image analysis of sensor video content to fully analyze vehicle drivers and passengers. Guardian's sensors detect every moving object in the car, ensuring the safety of all passengers.
